In Canada, August 1 is a Civic Holiday. In other words, it’s a sort of ‘freebie’ holiday that exists because, well, it’s the first of August and thus time for a holiday!

But in Guelph, August 1 is a Civic Holiday and a little something more: it’s John Galt Day.
