Canadian Home Sales Held Steady in August

On September 15, 2011, the Canadian Real Estate Association (CREA) released its statistics relating to national resale housing activity in August 2011. In a nutshell, activity was stable for the second consecutive month.

Here are some highlights from the CREA statistics:

  • For the second consecutive month, national home sales activity held steady in August 2011.
  • The number of newly-listed homes changed little from July to August.
  • A total of 324,030 homes traded hands through the Canadian MLS® Systems thus far in 2011 – the first time yet in 2011 that year-to-date activity has pulled ahead of 2010 levels.
  • The national housing market remains balanced.
