Neigbourhood Profile: St. George’s Park

There are no shortage of wonderful neighbourhoods in Guelph. Previously, I wrote about one of my favourite areas, The Ward. Another one of my favourite spots is the St. George’s Park area.

Growing up, I spent quite a bit of time in the park at the heart of this neighbourhood. One of my best friends lived a few houses from the park and I took tennis lessons there for a number of summers, until my family finally accepted the fact that I hadn’t inherited my tennis-pro aunt’s talent, but rather my mom’s general lack of coordination. Tennis successes or not, the park for me holds a lot of fond memories.

Today, the St. George’s Park area is an in-demand place to live in Guelph. Homes in this area can be large, with price-tags to match, but from street to street there is a great deal of variety in housing style, size and pricing. You’ll find everything from large, stone mini-mansions with stunning views of town, to more affordable options such as small bungalows and split-level homes. To be sure, the variety of architectural style in this established part of Guelph is one of the things that tends to appeal to people. This is about as far from ‘cookie cutter’ as it gets.

This section of Guelph has plenty of conveniences – schools and stores are close and St. George’s Park is just a short walk from the bustle of downtown Guelph.
